ACTION ALERT Hyundai Motors Agreed to Redundancy Dismissal ... Some Workers Rejecting Strongly

Hyundai Motors union agreed to dismiss 227 workers out of the 1,538 workers intended by management. At 12:30 on August 23, labor minister Lee Kee-ho, met the union and the management separately and finally got an agreement. The agreement states that the company has to give the 227 dismissed workers consolation bonuses and has to withdraw lawsuits targeting the union. Meanwhile, some rank-and-file workers burned the flag and the cloth of Sa-su-dai in front of union office expressing their feelings of betrayal. As of 9 am on Aug. 24, union officials are trying to explain the results of the agreement to representatives.
